O primeiro ginásio no interior do Paraná: o Regente Feijó e a educação secundária em Ponta Grossa-PR (1933-1945)

Abstract

The research dealt with secondary education at Ginásio Regente Feijó, first in the interior of Paraná, in the time frame that comprises the years 1933-1945. The study is documentary and bibliographic in nature and is anchored in theoretical assumptions of Cultural History. The temporality was delimited through the possibilities of analysis of the set of sources, which are found in the documentary collection of the currently called Colégio Estadual Regente Feijó and which refer to the secondary education taught in the institution. Among the selected sources, those that mention teaching inspections, attendance maps, teaching reports and organized points for partial tests stand out. The images used, for the most part, were consulted in the iconographic collection of the Campos Gerais Museum of the State University of Ponta Grossa. The consultation of sources and the study of the political context of the years that comprise the time period opened the way for the allocation of the Gymnasium in a broader context, dialoguing directly with the political scene of Paraná and Brazil. The text is divided into three chapters, which address, respectively: the research sources, dealing with issues related to school material culture and school archives and collections. In the sequence, the discussion brings to light the context of the creation of the Ginásio Regente Feijó in the interior of Paraná and its organization in the first years of operation, taking as a reference source the internal school regiment dated 1937. Finally, the discussion guided the approximation from the history of the Gymnasium to the movements for Modern Pedagogy and New Education, passing through educational reforms and federal teaching inspections. In this direction, the study portrayed the spaces and didactic-pedagogical materials related to the modernization context of the first half of the 20th century in Brazil. It was possible to verify some appropriations of educational elements from the studied context to the Gym in question, outlining aspects that involved political intentions, modernizing expressions of teaching and the (dis)continuities of the institution in relation to the educational reforms that occurred in Brazil. Through perspectives of scales in the analysis, cultural and social particularities of the institution were considered in a context of educational modernization.
