Abstract

This research analyse theses and dissertations defended on post-graduation programs on Communication and Brazilian Journalism, between years 1975 and 2015, that focus Journalism and the Woman. Thus, it aims at the articulation of Journalism and feminist studies on methodology and theory that base dissertations and theses from Post-Graduation on Communication and Brazilian Journalism. It is a "research of the research”, in Maldonado (2003) terms, of documental character. The effort to analyse and identify how the research about the woman in journalism relato the feminist theories with the theories of Journalism. It is also purpose of the research analyse the theoretical-methodological approach adopted by essays that deal the journalism and the woman in order to understand how it is to built the knowledge for scientific research process in Communication and Journalism which deal with the subject-matter. The survey of the Theses and Dissertations implies in the mapping of the post-graduation programs (PPGCOM e PPGJOR) and enables not only a broad view of research that deals with women. Also is presented data which allow interpretations about the development of Communication and Journalism in Brazil from a quantitative overview of theses and dissertations published in the country. It is assumed that there are few researches that support the epistemology of journalism from feminist epistemology, although the feminist critiques about knowledge built process has a greater visibility in other fields such as History, Philosophy and Literature. The answer for the issue raised, although it is not a tight response, cross the structure of the chapters, and, mainly, the analysis of the theses and dissertations. Thus, the first chapters presented deals with what is studied: The woman and the journalism; the second one present the anatomy of the research by explaining how the theses and dissertations analyzed were reached; the third one, search from a bibliographical review situate the place of woman in journalism; and finally, the fourth one presents the analysis of five chosen dissertations and theses from the process developed for this thesis categorization of theses and dissertations with greater potential to observe epistemological relations between Journalism and Feminist and Gender Studies.
