| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to compare the effect of ultrasonic passive irrigation (PUI) with conventional endodontic irrigation (CEI) using 1% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) as an auxiliary substance, on adhesion of fiberglass posts to the root canal through the bond strength (BS) test and the penetration depth of two endodontic cements, one eugenol-based cement (EBC) and the other epoxy resin-based cement (ERC) through a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). Fifty-two single-rooted permanent teeth had their crowns removed and were endodontically treated following the same protocol until the time of final irrigation. Then, they were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=26) according to final irrigation: CEI and PUI. Subsequently, the roots were dried and at the time of filling each group were subdivided into 2 subgroups (n=13) according to the endodontic cement: EBC and ERC. Two teeth from each subgroup were separated for confocal microscopy analysis, with endodontic cements mixed with 0.1% rhodamine B and resin cement mixed with 0.1% fluorescein. The remaining teeth in each subgroup were cemented with fiberglass posts and self-adhesive resin cement, and then evaluated for BS by the push-out test. The data obtained from BS were submitted to two-way ANOVA (group vs. root region) and Tukey (α = 0.05), and from confocal analysis were qualitatively evaluated. The EBC + PUI group showed a higher prevalence of possible contamination from endodontic cement at the post/dentin interface at confocal microscopy. For the BS test, the cross-product interaction was not significant. Root region as the main factor was statistically significantly, higher BS values were observed for the cervical root region, and lower values for the apical region. The main factor experimental group was also statistically significantly, higher BS values were observed for: ERC + CEI group; and the lowest BS values were observed for EBC + PUI group. In this way, because the adverse effects of eugenol against self-adhesive resin cements, it is suggested not to use eugenol-based cements in conjunction with passive ultrasonic irrigation in teeth that require intraradicular reinforcement. | pt_BR |
| dc.description.resumo | O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar o efeito da irrigação passiva ultrassônica (IPU) com irrigação endodôntica convencional com agulha (ICA) utilizando hipoclorito de sódio (NaOCl) 1% como substância auxiliar, na adesão de pinos de fibra de vidro (PFV) ao canal radicular através do teste de resistência de união (RU) e a profundidade de penetração de dois cimentos endodônticos, um à base de óxido de zinco e eugenol (CBE) e outro à base de resina epóxi (CRE) através de um microscópio confocal de varredura a laser (MCL). Cinquenta e dois dentes permanentes unirradiculares tiveram suas coroas removidas e foram tratados endodonticamente seguindo o mesmo protocolo até o momento da irrigação final. Em seguida, foram divididos aleatoriamente em 2 grupos (n=26) de acordo com a irrigação final: ICA e IPU. Posteriormente, as raízes foram secas e na obturação cada grupo foi subdividido em 2 subgrupos (n=13) de acordo com o cimento obturador: CBE e CRE. Dois dentes de cada subgrupo foram separados para análise de microscopia confocal, tendo os cimentos endodônticos misturados com rodamina B 0,1% e o cimento resinoso misturado com fluoresceína 0,1%. Os dentes restantes em cada subgrupo foram cimentados com PFV e cimento resinoso autoadesivo, e então avaliados para RU pelo teste de push-out. Os dados obtidos de RU (MPa) foram submetidos à ANOVA dois fatores (grupo vs. região radicular) e Tukey (α = 0,05), e a na análise confocal foram avaliados qualitativamente. O grupo CBE + IPU apresentou maior prevalência de possível contaminação por cimento endodôntico na interface pino/dentina na microscopia confocal. Para o teste RU, a interação dupla não foi significativa (p > 0,05). A região radicular como fator principal foi estatisticamente significativa, sendo observados maiores valores de RU para a região cervical da raiz e menores valores para a região apical. O fator principal grupo experimental também foi estatisticamente significante, maiores valores de RU foram observados para o grupo CRE + ICA; e os menores valores de RU foram observados para o grupo CBE + IPU. Dessa forma, devido aos efeitos adversos do eugenol sobre os cimentos resinosos autoadesivos, sugere-se não utilizar cimentos à base de eugenol em conjunto com irrigação passiva ultrassônica em dentes que necessitem de reforço intrarradicular. | pt_BR |
