Contribuições dos registros de representação semiótica na conceituação do sistema de numeração

Abstract

O estudo descreve momentos de investigação da compreensão do sistema de numeração decimal de origem indo-arábica (SND) por crianças de escolas estaduais dos estados do Paraná e Santa Catarina, a partir da aplicação de um instrumento composto por tarefas e atividades cujas respostas, obtidas em entrevista clínica, constituíram registros videografados dos dados que foram submetidos à análise. Apresenta também análise dos padrões de organização da palavra e do numeral arábico que constituem registros de representação do número e resultados de pesquisa que apontam a complexidade da aprendizagem, leitura e escrita de um sistema de numeração. Culmina numa proposta que compreende uma situação de ensino para a aprendizagem do SND, subsidiadas pelas incompreensões identificadas e pelas pesquisas desenvolvidas.Os fundamentos teóricos basearam-se nas proposições de Raymond Duval como mais adequadas para adentrar e enfrentar a problemática da incompreensão do SND pelas crianças. As tarefas da situação de ensino compreenderam registros de natureza monofuncional (a escrita arábica) e plurifuncional (a palavra escrita), as operações cognitivas de produção, tratamento e conversão, enfrentamento do fenômeno da não-congruência. Espera-se contribuir para a conceituação do sistema de numeração que constitui um objeto matemático. Este não só torna possível veicular uma forma de comunicar, matematicamente, observações do mundo real por meio de representações matemáticas, como também apresenta resultados com precisão, argumenta sobre conjecturas e hipóteses e faz uso da linguagem (oral e escrita).The present work describes investigation moments of the Hindu-Arabic Decimal Number System (DNS) understanding by children in public state schools in Paraná e Santa Catarina states, deriving from the application of an instrument composed of tasks and activities which answers, obtained during clinical interviews, constitute video records of the data that were submitted to the analysis. It also presents the analysis of the organization patterns of words and of the Arabic numeral that constitute records of the number representation and research results that point to the complexity of the learning, reading and writing of a numbering system. It culminates in a proposal that encompasses one teaching situation for the learning of the DNS, subsidized by the identified incomprehensions and by the developed research. The theoretical principals were based on the propositions of Raymond Duval the most suitable ones in order to approach and face the issue of the DNS incomprehension by children. Teaching situation encompassed records of monofunctional (the Arabic writing) and plurifunctional nature (the written word), the cognitive operations of production, treatment and conversion, the facing of the non-congruency phenomenon. One expects to contribute to conceptualize the numbering system which constitutes a mathematical object that enables not only to vehiculate a means to mathematically communicate real world observations through mathematical representations, but also to present precise results, arguing about conjectures and hypothesis, making use of language (oral and written).
