Abstract
The conception of witchcraft has been constantly revisited and reformulated over the
centuries. Thus, based on the concepts of imaginary and representation, this work aim
to verify the ruptures and permanences of witchcraft notion, in the 16th-century
Europe. For this, we used the English and Protestant book “Discoverie of Witchcraft”
(1584), by Reginald Scot, translated into Brazilian Portuguese. As an instrument of
analysis, we applied the “hológrafo social”, proposed by Waldemar de Gregori, in
“Cibernética Social I” (1988). In addition, we use the “taguette” software for data
organization.
