A formação da imprensa da Amazônia: o primeiro século do jornalismo do Amapá (1890-1990)

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to systematize the formation of the first 100 years of journalism in Amapá, between 1890 and 1990. The period comprises two political-administrative moments. In the first, the locality was subordinate to Pará until 1943. The second period lasted until 1990 and represented the phase that was in the condition of federal territory under the command of the Union. The methodology comprised bibliographic research, documentary research and oral history interviews with journalists. The techniques provided subsidies for the realization of vehicle mapping, establishment of journalistic milestones, pointing out the connections between journalism and economic, political, social, technological and cultural aspects of society and indication of characteristics of this press. Because it is a media outside the mainstream, regional journalism emerges as the main theoretical contribution of this study, which culminated in the cataloguing of 27 journalistic initiatives among printed newspapers, radios and TVs, which represented 47 milestones in the history of amapaense journalism. The political issue is the main factor that crosses the print and broadcasting vehicles in a press that has as main characteristic the financial dependence of local government advertising funds.
