A inclusão social da mulher transgênero nas olimpíadas e as consequências para o contexto feminino

Abstract

The objective of this master's thesis was to understand how transgender athletes are included in the Olympics, and if the aforementioned inclusion interferes with competitiveness and competition results, while exclusion may incur segregation and promote discrimination. The construction of this dissertation took place from the use of the Scandinavian model, also called multipaper, which proposes a structure composed of different articles, which allow the understanding of the research problem. To this end, three articles were prepared, they are: Article 1 - State of Knowledge: transgender athletes, Article 2 - Olympic Games: sex and gender verification policies, Article 3 - Socio-legal analysis of policies for the inclusion of transgender athletes in the Olympic Games based on the principles of equality and non-discrimination. Finally, after presenting the three articles of this dissertation, it is understood that justice implies the recognition of transgender women as equal moral agents, at the same time justice in sport requires that women are not physically disadvantaged either, requiring a response based on scientific evidence to maintain the sporting principles of equality and non-discrimination, in accordance with all arguments and legislation presented throughout this dissertation.
