Abstract
The Physics subject in High School is seen as a villain by the students due to the emphasis in innumerable calculations and most of the time without a practical application, becoming an abstract teaching, and students having difficulties to build a mentally image about what is unknown or about the things he/she has never heard about. Or even in practices without the physical concepts, purely empirical for the students. Hence, this work uses a teaching and learning sequence based in designing principles, in order to boost the Thermodynamics and Modern Physics learning from the the motivating research question “How to measure the Sun temperature”. The present work was based on theories of Piaget and Vygotsky, as references to the Piagetian interviews as well as social and cultural mediation and the language use in the learning and teaching processes proposed by Vygotsky. The Physics content sequence proposed follows the second grade of High School’s anual planning , being divided in five lesson plans to be developed in nine classes. The results show the possibility to insert Modern Physics Fundamentals concepts, motivating the students to go beyond the classroom knowledge. It is shown that, a simple question and contextualized activities may contribute to significative and motivating learning.
