Instituições de longa permanência: o acolhimento e a educação permanente de idosos

Abstract

Contemporary society has been presenting several changes regarding the different aspects that structure it, spanning the social, political, economic and educational spheres, among others. In this sense, the present thesis aimed to discuss the interferences of the educational process regarding the reception of the elderly in Long Stay Institutions, having the educational bias as the guiding thread of all research. In relation to the methodology and its course, bibliographical research and literature review were used as essential components for the historical constitution of the object to be studied, using the theoretical and methodological conception based on Historical and Dialectical Materialism, starting from a qualitative approach. As instruments for data collection, direct observation and interactive groups were used with the subjects (elderly) surveyed in the host institutions, as well as the application of questionnaires to the professionals who work in the technical teams of these institutions. As a delimitation of the research, we selected three institutions located in municipalities in the southeast region of the State of Paraná. The Marxist perspective (Marx, Engels, Cury, Netto) has as theoretical reference, bringing the dialectic throughout the theoretical discussion and analysis of the collected data. The research discusses the elderly in contemporary society along with the concepts of old age and aging, seeking to contextualize historically the object of study, which is the institutionalized elderly. Thus, it is verified that the thesis is confirmed from its main objective, since education interferes in the process of institutionalization of the elderly, being a determining factor in this conjuncture, which is related not only to educational, but also political and economic issues , allowing to relate the contradiction and totality categories.
