Considerações dialetais para o desenho de uma unidade didática: o ensino de E/LE em Medellín - Colômbia

Abstract

The teaching of Spanish as a foreign language (S/FL) is an area that Colombia has been strongly developing during recent years. Thus, there are more academic initiatives and courses, due to the fact that today there exists, as a result of foreigners, the desire to do business, academic exchange and get to know Colombia’s multiculturalism. As a result of these questions, as professors of S/FL we consider it important to reflect on what the role is of language in society, on what model of the Spanish language to teach, and on the production of Colombian didactic materials that respond with linguistic and cultural characteristics of our country. Therefore, this research subscribes to the field of sociolinguistics and dialectology because we show the importance of the teaching of a foreign language that responds to the social and cultural particularities within the situational context of Colombia. Thus, we base our theoretical framework on the sociolinguistic field and the dialectology of the authors: Coseriu (1973), Lipski (1996), José Joaquín Montes (2000), Moreno Fernández (2007, 2009), William Labov (2008), Carmen Silva-Corvalán (2009), Lipski (1996). In order to resolve the question about the importance of the own language model for teaching S/FL, we addressed some dialectic and sociolinguistic characteristics of Colombian Spanish such as the linguistic phenomenon known as parlache in the city of Medellín. In this dissertation, we will work with the qualitative methodology of the interpretative nature because, we seek to analyze the current state of S/FL in relation to Colombia and the world. As part of the global mercantilism, the language moves from its social function to be utilized as an economic good, and in the case of the Spanish language, reference may be made to the benefits that the Spanish market derives from the global expansion of this language in the world. Thus, to solve this question, we will address pan-Hispanicism and linguistic and political ideologies of the Spanish language proposed by José del Valle (2011, 2014). Then, in order to analyze the production of Colombian didactic materials, we created a dialogue about the situation of didactic materials for teaching S/FL in Brazil and in Colombia. Lastly, to contribute our own didactic materials that social context and the Spanish language in Colombia, we propose to design a unit based on the perspective of the evolution of the acional perspective theory proposed by Cristian Puren (2004) with the goal of developing the intercultural competence of foreign adult students from advanced levels in culture and language courses in Medellín.
