A presença desses sujeitos falando a mesma língua, tendo a mesma região como lugar de origem e reconhecendo-se como grupo devido a várias práticas comuns, gerou um saber que chamaremos de discurso da etnicidade ucraniana. Tal conhecimento se expressa por meio de variados suportes, tais como os textos produzidos por pesquisadores e estudiosos do assunto e os termos utilizados para expressar o fenômeno da imigração. O conceito de cultura, foco da investigação deste artigo, é utilizado de forma ampla no âmbito da produção historiográfica sobre o fenômeno da imigração ucraniana para o Estado do Paraná.; According to experts on the history of immigration in Brazil, have taken up residence in the State of Paraná, between 1895 and 1897, more than 20,000 immigrants from the region now called as Ukraine. The presence of these subjects, speaking the same language, having the same region as place of origin and recognizing themselves as a group due to various practices common, generated a discourse that led to call the discourse of ukrainian ethnicity. Such knowledge is expressed through various media, including: the texts produced by researchers and academics and the terms used to express the phenomenon of immigration. The concept of culture, focus of the investigation expressed in this article, is used widely within the historiography on the phenomenon of ukrainian immigration to the state of Paraná. Com base na história cultural da leitura e nos aportes da estética da recepção, busca indicar modos alternativos de estudo da história da recepção popular dos textos bíblicos. A metodologia combinou a observação participante, a coleta de entrevistas orais e a análise de fontes impressas. Conclui que a noção de “leitura literal” é teórica e empiricamente inadequada para compreender a complexidade da relação dos crentes com a Bíblia Sagrada.; The article deals with the reading of the Bible among Brazilian Pentecostal communities over the past century, with emphasis on the Assembleia de Deus. Based on the cultural history of reading and the contributions of the aesthetics of reception, seeks to indicate alternative ways of studying the history of popular reception of biblical texts. The methodology combined participant observation, collection of oral interviews and analysis of printed sources. It concludes that the notion of “literal reading” is theoretically and empirically inadequate to understand the complexity of the relationship of believers with the Holy Bible.
