A relevância socioeconômica da fumicultura no município de São João Do Triunfo-Pr

Abstract

As atuais formações e organizações de territórios são influenciadas pelos diferentes atores presentes no espaço e as relações de poder que exercem sobre este. O crescente fortalecimento da produção de tabaco na região Sul do Brasil está muito atrelado a influência que a indústria, composta por grandes multinacionais, consegue ter nessa região, formando seus próprios territórios. Em São João do Triunfo a fumicultura é baseada na agricultura familiar, onde as empresas encontram oportunidades de se expandir, assim como, as famílias encontram a chance de alcançar uma possível estabilidade econômica. Com a grande presença da fumicultura, o município passou a depender economicamente desse setor, o que acaba por fortalecer o domínio do cultivo no município. Apesar de proporcionar uma maior renda às famílias, o cultivo do tabaco tornou-se problemático pelas condições de trabalho impostas aos produtores e aos problemas de saúde que podem gerar a estes. Assim, o trabalho teve como objetivo principal compreender a territorialização da fumicultura a partir da agricultura familiar em São João do Triunfo- PR. Já os objetivos específicos tratam-se da caracterização do município quanto sua história e formação, a descrição do processo histórico do cultivo de tabaco no Brasil e a busca pela compreensão quanto às ligações que os agricultores têm com a produção de tabaco e com as empresas fumageiras, evidenciando também todos os impasses e questões atrelados a essa relação. Para a realização da pesquisa buscou-se dados secundários referentes a produção de fumo no município e para a coleta de dados primários foram realizadas entrevistas e aplicação de questionário aos produtores de tabaco de uma comunidade do município, tendo acesso assim, a dados quantitativos e qualitativos acerca das questões que permeiam a fumicultura na comunidade.

The current formations and organizations of territories are influenced by the different actors present in the space and the power relations they exert over it. The growing strength of tobacco production in southern Brazil is closely linked to the influence that the industry, made up of large multinationals, manages to have in this region, forming its own territories. In São João do Triunfo, tobacco farming is based on family farming, where companies find opportunities to expand, as well as families find the chance to achieve possible economic stability. With the great presence of tobacco farming, the municipality became economically dependent on this sector, which ends up strengthening the field of cultivation in the municipality. Despite providing greater income to families, tobacco cultivation has become problematic due to the working conditions imposed on producers and the health problems it can generate for them. Thus, the work had as main objective to understand the territorialization of tobacco growing from family farming in São João do Triunfo-PR. The specific objectives deal with the characterization of the municipality in terms of its history and formation, the description of the historical process of tobacco cultivation in Brazil and the search for understanding regarding the connections that farmers have with tobacco production and tobacco companies. , also highlighting all the impasses and issues linked to this relationship. To carry out the research, secondary data were sought regarding tobacco production in the municipality and for the collection of primary data, interviews were carried out and a questionnaire was applied to tobacco producers in a community in the municipality, thus having access to quantitative and qualitative about the issues that permeate tobacco growing in the community.
